Roadmap & Strategy
Grand Scheme: Terraforming Venus
The long-term objective is to stabilize Venus as the second habitable world in the inner solar system. This requires a synchronized build-out of three infrastructures:
- Orbital Mirrors: segmental “Venus Sunshade” at L1 to cool the planet and trigger CO₂ rainout.
- Skyhooks: bidirectional momentum tethers for logistics between Earth, Mars, and Venus.
- Mass Drivers: electromagnetic launchers for CO₂ export and resource exchange.
End-state: an autonomous planetary-scale climate system producing oceans and breathable air, supported by a sustainable orbital industry.
YC-Phase Plan (First 90 Days)
Assuming $500 000 USD pre-seed runway, the goal is to prove traction and credibility with measurable prototypes and a compelling Demo Day narrative.
Month 1: Foundation
- Finalize simulation stack for skyhook dynamics & thermal analysis.
- Hire / partner 2-3 mechanical + software engineers.
- Set up corporate structure, IP filings, and outreach for partnerships.
Month 2: Prototype
- Build 5–10 m lab tether section, validate strength & redundancy.
- Bench-test small EM mass-driver coil segment.
- Deploy 1:5000 reflective-film demo of Venus mirror slice (lab scale).
Month 3: Integration & Pitch
- Combine tether + mass-driver + control software into cohesive architecture model.
- Film high-production concept video & visual sim of Venus phase-transition.
- Prepare Demo Day deliverables and investor data-room.
Demo Day Targets
- Show working physical prototype (mini tether or EM rail firing test).
- Display orbital simulation proving Δv reduction potential.
- Demonstrate team + partner network momentum.
Next Funding Milestone
Target raise: $5–7 million Seed following Demo Day to transition from prototype to orbital demo. Proceeds allocated to:
- Micro-gravity test on CubeSat / ISS platform.
- Scaled EM driver (50 m track) and composite tether spool.
- SRP-balanced reflective segment experiment (Venus mirror pathfinder).
The follow-on Series A ( ~$25 M ) would target full orbital tether demonstration and Venus mirror module deployment with commercial partners.
Partnership Roadmap
- Almond Robotics — precision assembly & maintenance drones for space infrastructure.
- Terraform Forge — asteroid mining + materials pipeline for Mg/Ca delivery to Venus.
- Rocket Lab / Impulse / Firefly — rideshare orbital insertion for tether test payloads.
- Blue Origin / Axiom / NASA SBIR — R&D grants and testbed access.
- Universities — materials labs + aerospace programs for tensile / thermal validation.
Economic Logic & Stakeholders
Planet Prep operates at the intersection of infrastructure and frontier speculation. The business model compounds through dual-market participation:
- Launch Efficiency Economics (Skyhooks / Mass Drivers): drastically reduce cost per kg to orbit → supply chain for satellites, ISS resupply, lunar cargo.
- Planetary Equity (Venus Program): long-term optionality for governments & private investors seeking first-mover resource rights and intellectual capital over habitable real estate.
- Licensing & Joint Ventures: spin-out of enabling tech—tether materials, high-power switching, mirror membranes.
Early revenues derive from terrestrial applications (launch cost reduction, industrial EM rail tech); later upside from planetary infrastructure IP and concession rights.
